Honeymoon Island State Park
Honeymoon Island State Park offers one of the best opportunities along Florida's Gulf Coast to experience both beautiful beaches and abundant wildlife in a natural setting. Located just west of Dunedin, the park combines miles of shoreline, nature trails, and protected habitats that make it feel surprisingly remote despite being close to the Tampa Bay area.
The beaches themselves are a major draw, with soft sand, clear Gulf waters, and plenty of room to spread out and relax. Whether you're walking along the shoreline, swimming, or simply enjoying the ocean views, the park provides a quieter and more natural beach experience than many nearby destinations.
One of our favorite parts of visiting Honeymoon Island was the wildlife. We spotted several gopher tortoises roaming through the park, along with numerous birds and other native species. The combination of wildlife viewing and coastal scenery made the park feel like much more than just a beach destination.
For nature lovers, photographers, and anyone looking to experience Florida's natural beauty, Honeymoon Island State Park offers a wonderful balance of outdoor recreation, wildlife encounters, and peaceful Gulf Coast scenery.
