Our Experience - Prague Castle
Prague Castle completely lived up to the hype — and then some. The highlight for us was St. Vitus Cathedral, which is absolutely breathtaking both inside and out. The intricate Gothic details, soaring ceilings, and vibrant stained glass windows make it one of the most impressive cathedrals we’ve visited anywhere in Europe.
Beyond the cathedral, we loved wandering through the expansive castle grounds and exploring the various buildings, courtyards, and historic halls that make up the complex. There’s so much to see that it feels more like a small city than a single landmark. Every turn seemed to reveal another beautiful view over Prague’s red rooftops.
Even the very steep walk up to the castle ended up being part of the experience. The climb is no joke, but it’s incredibly scenic and offers gorgeous views along the way. Our biggest tip: arrive early and time your visit for when the buildings first open. The grounds open earlier, but getting into the main interiors right at opening makes a huge difference in avoiding the crowds and enjoying the space at a more relaxed pace.
