Our Experience - Ottakringer Brewery Tour
The Ottakringer Brewery Tour was a fantastic deep dive into one of Vienna’s most iconic breweries. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this was going to be a fun and informative experience, largely thanks to our phenomenal guide, Lucas. He struck the perfect balance between knowledgeable and entertaining, making the tour engaging from start to finish.
The tour took us on a walking journey through the active production facility, where we learned about Ottakringer’s history, brewing philosophy, and hands-on approach to beer making. One of the standout moments was tasting a Dunkel fresh from the conditioning tanks — an unforgettable behind-the-scenes experience that really showcased the freshness and quality of the beer.
Along the way, we learned about every step of the brewing process, from ingredients to fermentation, and even had the chance to taste malted barley while discussing its role in flavor development. The tour also covered the canning and bottling process, giving a complete look at how Ottakringer brings their beer from grain to glass.
The experience wrapped up with plenty of time to relax and enjoy the beers. We were able to sample roughly eight different Ottakringer beers that were currently on tap, making it easy to explore a wide range of styles at our own pace. Between the excellent guide, the behind-the-scenes access, and the generous tastings, this tour was an absolute must for any beer lover visiting Vienna.
