Our Experience - USS Yorktown Ghost Tour
The USS Yorktown Ghost Tour offered a completely different experience from visiting the ship during normal operating hours. Walking aboard the carrier late at night, long after the daytime crowds had disappeared, created an atmosphere that was both fascinating and surprisingly eerie.
The guided tour led us through various sections of the ship while sharing stories of unexplained experiences, strange encounters, and the supernatural legends that have developed over the years aboard the historic aircraft carrier. The combination of documented history and ghost stories created an experience that was equal parts educational and entertaining.
What made the tour especially memorable was the opportunity to explore the Yorktown after hours. The dark hallways, quiet compartments, and empty passageways gave the ship an entirely different personality compared to the busy museum atmosphere during the day. Even without the ghost stories, simply having access to such a historic vessel at night would have been worthwhile.
Whether or not you believe in the paranormal, there is something undeniably unforgettable about standing in the dimly lit interior of a World War II aircraft carrier while hearing stories of unexplained events and reported encounters from crew members and visitors over the years.
For us, the combination of naval history, storytelling, exclusive after-hours access, and the unique nighttime atmosphere made this one of the most memorable and unusual experiences we had in Charleston.
