Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a plane in your hotel room? No, I’m not talking about a paper airplane or a toy model, but an actual decommissioned Boeing 737 jet with a full cockpit and partial cabin in your room! Well, the 737 Suite at the Corendon Amsterdam New-West hotel may just be the perfect and unique hotel experience for all aviation enthusiasts. Part of the Marriott Bonvoy Tribute Portfolio collection of hotels, the 737 Suite is a must-book when staying in Amsterdam.
The Elephant - I Mean Plane - In the Room
Let’s start with the obvious reason for writing this article – there is legitimately a plane in the room. The retired 737-800 once flew for Corendon Airlines and is now the centerpiece of the suite located on the 7th floor in room number – you guessed it – 737. While it may sound absolutely wild to even imagine something as large as the fuselage of a jet being in a hotel room, the highlight is stepping inside the aircraft section itself. Whether you’re an aviation enthusiast or just someone who appreciates unique travel experiences, being able to walk into and explore part of a Boeing 737 at your own pace is something you simply don’t get anywhere else. It’s a fun, immersive feature that sets this suite apart from anything else in the city.
Inside the plane you will find the cockpit and a section of the cabin. The cockpit is complete with the yoke, thrust lever, and all the switches, knobs, and buttons of a 737, while the cabin has three rows of seats and overhead storage bins. I never even thought of it, but you could actually test the fit of your carry-on luggage without even leaving your room – just don’t use that as your measure if you’re heading off to board a flight with one of Europe’s budget airlines because when it comes to carry-on limits, they do not play around.
The cockpit is nothing short of awesome. Sit in the captain’s seat, invite your co-pilot, take hold of the yoke, and play around with all the buttons to your heart’s desire – I know I certainly did every chance I could get during our two-night stay. One thing that would just put the experience over the top would be if the screens in the cockpit still matched the inputs from the yoke and buttons. For example, you can pull and push the yoke any which way you so please, but it won’t affect the reading on the altimeter during the brief simulated flight that plays on the screen. In fact, a flight simulator built into the cockpit would have been just unbelievable, but even so, it’s incredible to hang out in the cockpit.
In the cabin, one nice feature is a projector and screen. Imagine having a few friends over for a movie night or inviting a couple of clients to a presentation, all from inside a 737.
Obviously the 737 is the star of the room, but next let’s explore some of the other amenities and features of the room and hotel.
The Suite Experience
The bedroom area is equally well designed, offering a comfortable space to recharge from spending a thrilling day out in Amsterdam or from sitting in the aircraft's cockpit. Despite the novelty of having an airplane in your room, it strikes a perfect balance between creative design and genuine comfort. The space is thoughtfully designed with separate areas to relax, dine, and sleep, all centered around the star of the show.
The suite includes a comfortable lounge area perfect for unwinding after a day exploring Amsterdam, along with a kitchen space that makes the room feel more like a private apartment than a traditional hotel.
One of the standout perks is that all refreshments are included, featuring a fully stocked espresso machine complete with fresh beans and milk, Heineken, and soda stocked in the fridge – completely complimentary. As not just an aviation enthusiast, but also a coffee connoisseur, sipping freshly made espresso in a soft bathrobe from the cockpit of a 737 certainly is right up there with best places to start the day. And those complimentary Heineken’s? I’ll give you one guess where those were best enjoyed as well!
One interesting thing to note is the number of bathrooms in the room. With the master bathroom included the space totaled four bathrooms all in all – definitely more than I’ve ever seen in a hotel room. It leads me to believe the room was once used as a conference and meeting center no converted into a suite. Of all the weird and quirky things to find in a hotel (like an airplane), extra restrooms are surprisingly not the strangest.
The Hotel & Location
Located just outside the city center of Amsterdam, the Corendon Amsterdam New-West, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel by Marriott Bonvoy, offers a unique blend of modern comfort and bold, aviation-inspired design. While it sits in a quieter residential area, it’s still well connected to central Amsterdam via public transport. The tram and subway are only a short block away, making it easy to get to spots like the Heineken Experience and canal tours throughout the city. The property itself leans into its aviation theme from the moment you arrive, setting the tone for what is easily one of the most unusual hotel stays in the city.
As part of the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio, the hotel also integrates seamlessly into one of the world’s largest hotel loyalty programs, allowing guests to earn and redeem points during their stay. We are HUGE and loyal fans of the Bonvoy rewards program, so any opportunity to earn points and Elite Night credits while enjoying such a unique accommodation experience is a win-win. For frequent travelers, this adds an extra layer of value, especially for a room like the 737 Suite, which transforms a novelty experience into something that can still contribute to long-term travel rewards. It’s a rare combination: a one-of-a-kind aviation-themed stay that still fits neatly into a broader travel strategy through Marriott Bonvoy.
Booking & Tips
If you’re planning a stay in the 737 Suite, the easiest and most reliable way to book is directly through Marriott’s website. As part of the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio, availability and pricing can vary depending on demand, but booking direct ensures you’re getting the most accurate rates, full flexibility, and access to any Bonvoy member perks you may be eligible for.
Because the 737 Suite is such a unique, high-demand room, it can book out well in advance, especially during peak travel seasons in Amsterdam. If this experience is on your list, it’s worth planning ahead rather than hoping for last-minute availability. We also found that pricing fluctuates quite a bit depending on the date, so being flexible with your stay can make a noticeable difference.
As always, I recommend booking directly through Marriott’s site whenever possible. It keeps everything straightforward, ensures your reservation is properly linked to Marriott Bonvoy, and avoids any third-party complications with a room this unique.
